Updates to Unity

Chapter 1: Disunity

I should add a description about my drawing of the flow of Unity:  It's about the Ascending and Descending movements. The Ascending movement is from the Many to One where we see that behind the shadowy forms of manifestation there is a single Source, the Absolute, what Plato calls "a visible, sensible God." Plato's vision is the unity and integration of the Ascending and Descending currents, or otherworldly, and this-worldly. This is Ken Wilber's integral view. (Wilber, 228). The entire visible world is a manifestation of Spirit and to be loved as Spirit. The Ascent is about achieving Wisdom and Eros and the Descent is about Compassion and Agape. The combination is the union of the One and the Many. This is the goal and ground of genuine spirituality. (231). The Ascenders focus on ascetics (tapas, fasting). The Descenders celebrate the glory of diversity, senses, the body, sexuality, and the earth—it's a creation-centered spirituality that sees each sunrise and moonrise as the visible blessing of the Divine.  (233).

I talk about The Crisis of Civilization and the major psychological challenges for overcoming lower consciousness (p.60-68). I need to make this more explicit. I need to make this flow into Higher Consciousness.
People are often unable to achieve higher consciousness because of trauma during their earlier stages of development, and have a sabotaging neurosis or some type of internal conflict. The goal is to integrate Freud (lower depth psychology of the unconscious) with Buddha (height psychology of the mystical or contemplative traditions), so the individual can be released from their fixation and dissociation and rejoin the ongoing flow of consciousness evolution.  (Wilber, 128, 141) People engage in a psychotic lie where the unconscious is the locus of the layers of deception, insincerity, hiding the actual self and its real potentials.

Chapter 3: Higher Consciousness
I define spirit in a few different ways (p.324, 344, 580). I like how Wilber defines Spirit not as the higher Self, or just Gaia, or just awareness, or just the web of life, or just the sum total of all objective phenomena, or just transcendental consciousness. Spirit, says Wilber, exists in and as all four quandrants, the four compass points, as it were, of the known Kosmos, all of which are needed to accurately navigate.  (Wilber, 75).

I talk about self a lot (pp. 204, 212, 238, 274, 320, 358), and I like Wilber's definition of Self: Self with a capital S is Witness, or pure Presence, or pure awareness, or consciousness. This Self as transparent Witness is a direct ray of the living Divine. The ultimate I is Christ, is Buddha, is Emptiness itself: such is the startling testimony of the world's great mystics and sages. The world's great mystics observe how self goes straight to God, straight to Spirit, straight to the very Divine. In the ultimate depths of your own awareness, you intersection infinity. The mind becomes an object of the observing Self, the Witness. There are practices that disloses this higher worldspace, interior experiments. (Wilber, 179).
  • In the list of ways to achieve Altered States of Consciousness, I list dance. It's a vast subject. But I want to add a footnote about the Five Rhythms. It draws from indigenous and world traditions using tenets of shamanistic, ecstatic, mystical and eastern philosophy, transpersonal psychology. Dance is the practice as a soul journey; that by moving the body, releasing the heart, and freeing the mind, one can connect to the essence of the soul, the source of inspiration in which an individual has unlimited possibility and potential. The dance is to put the body in motion in order to still the mind. The five rhythms (in order) are flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical, and stillness. The five rhythms, when danced in sequence, are known as a "Wave." A typical Wave takes about an hour to dance (Listen to the YouTube Video or buy the music CD). See also, Zehr, The Alchemy of Dance: Sacred Dance as a Path to the Universal Dancer (2008).

Wilber's Theory of Consciousness & Experiencing Unity
The manifest world is full of suffering. It's the world of samsara. It's an alienating place. It's imprisoning if you don't transcend it. It's painful, but the interior evolution is called waking up. It's like frostbite disease. First there's no feeling at all; everything seems find, you're in a paradise of no pain. You're diseased, you just don't know it. Then it thaws out, and feelings and emotions emerge and it hurts like hell. Theorists confuse "hurts like hell" with the disease itself. (Wilber, 150).

Every neurosis is an ecological crisis. The self exists in the noosphere and the noosphere can repress, distort, dissociate, and deny the biosphere. Individually, this produces neurosis; collectively, eco-crisis. (154).  ... Evolution is a continual decline of ego-centrism.  Today, for the very first time in consciousness development and evolution, we have a worldcentric and global perspective. But only about 10% of people have this worldview. Getting to that stance is a very elite accomplishment and it's important not to deny, distort, conceal, or decieve that elitist status of the self because multicults with a worldcentric view often see elitism of any sort as bad and try not to judge. But there are inferior perspectives like Nazism and the KKK and Carnism.  Denying this is persuasive Orwellian newspeak and thought police and the universities and social organizations have been hijacked by it, contributing and encouraging an egocentric fragmentation and grievance politics, the politics of narcissism.  (Wilber, 171-73).

The next stage is the integration of the mind and the body, the noosphere and the biosphere, in a relatively autonomous self integrated into its networks of responsibility and service.  (174) This is on the brink of Transpersonal

When you step off the ladder of evolving consciousness, free falling in Emptiness, inside and outside, subject and object lose all ultimate meaning. You are no longer "in here" looking at the world "out there." The Divine sparkles in every sight and sound, and you are simply that. The sun shines not on you but within you, and galaxies are born and die, all within your heart. You can hld Gaia in the palm of your hand and bless it and it is the most ordinary thing in the world and so you think nothing of it. (Wilber, 142)

When one experiences the light of God in oneself and then one loves our neighbors as oneself instead of mistreating our neighbors as we mistreat ourselves.  (Creating Peace, 170).

Edit the 10th Model of Consciousness. I say that point A is ordinary reality in the observable universe and Point B is Enlightenment.

Add Footnote: Also: A=B. There is no distance.  Also, there is a naive notion of one-step transformation from the analytic and rational and nasty ego straight to the expansive and liberated and cosmic God consciousness. Get rid of ego, you have God. It is nowhere near that simple. An acorn doesn't become a forest in a quantum leap. There are stages of growth. Peak may have peak experiences, but it may be more accurate to say "peek" experiences of higher consciousness that one is unable to hold. It's one thing to tap into a higher level and quite another to live there. Spiritual experiences do not allow you to simply bypass the growth and development upon which enduring spiritual realization itself depends. Evolution can be accelerated but not fundamentally skipped over. (Wilber, Brief History, 138-39).

New Footnote in Higher Consciousness about Spiral Dynamics, a model of human development and development of memes carrying systems - such as a social network, society or company - introduced by Spiral Dynamics (1996) by Don Beck and Chris Cowan. Wikipedia

In the level of consciousness above nature mysticism—the focus of spiritual climatologyin deity mysticism, there's an expansive affective state of love and compassion (and sometimes Kosmic terror). It's deity mysticism because it involves a union with God, Brahman, a state of savikalpa samadhi. A classic example is with intense interior illumination or perhaps a near death experience. A Christian may see it as Christ or an angel or a saint, a Buddhist may see Sambhogakaya or bliss body of Buddha, and so on. It's interpreted based on an individual's background context. (191).  There's a Light of which all lesser lights are pale shadows. There's a Bliss of which all lesser joys are anemic copies. There's a Consciousness of which all lesser cognitions are mere reflections. These are the real archetypes of higher consciousness. (FN: These are not the basic Jungian archetypes of lower consciousness, the inherited images or forms in the psyche, in the magic and mythic dimensions of awareness, premordial images common and typical to human experience: birth, mother, father, shadow, wise old man, trickster, ego, animus and anima (masculine and feminine), and so on.

Millions of encounters with these typical situations have ingrained these basic images into the collective psyche of the human race and they are found the world's great myths. Jungian archetypes should not be confused with the archetypes in higher consciousness because Jungian archetypes, although integrated and incorporated, are a regressive pull of awareness back to lower consciousness, lead weights around higher development to be overcome.)  The true archetypes are a meditative experience and it's very hard to understand these archetypes without performing the experiment. You must take up the contemplative practice to know what this is talking about. They are not images in a mythic worldspace or philosophical concepts in the rational worldspace. They are meditative phenomena in the subtle worldspace. (197).  You are looking into the Face of the Divine. Most modern researchers reject this as "mere metaphycis," unverifiable. Well, you yourself should perform this experiment and look at the data yourself. Then you can interpret it. If you don't perform the experiment—the meditative injunction—then you don't have the data from which to make a good interpretation. It's very public, very reproducible, very communal knowledge: its results exist and can be readily checked by all who enter the subtle worldspace and try the internal experiment. If you're skeptical, that's a healthy attitude, and we invite you to find our yourself, and perform this internal experiment with us, get the data, and help us interpret it. But if you won't perform the experiment, please don't ridicule those who do. The most common interpretation of those who have seen this data is: you are face to face with the Divine.  (Wilber, 198).

In the level of consciousness above deity mysticism, in the causal or formless mysticism, there's a state of awareness—unmanifest absorption, cessation, nirvikalpa samadhi, jnana samadhi, classical nirvana—of pure Self, pure Emptiness pure Witness, pure consciousness, pure awareness. The Self or the Seer or the Witness is not any particular thought—you calmly rest in observing awareness in a sense of freedom and release. It's a sense of vast Freedom, transcending the objective world of time and objects and stress. It is timeless and spaceless. It's eternal—which doesn't mean everlasting time, but free of time altogether. (See, Thomas Keating, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, Sri Ramana Maharshi, Bawa Muhaiyaddeen, or other widely acknowledged teachers in the great contemplative traditions.). It's called "causal" because it is the support or cause or creative ground for all junior dimensions. Out of emptiness, reality is created.  The creative ground is called God, Goddess, Tao, Brahman, Keter, Rigpa, Dharmakaya, Maat, or Li. The scientifically-oriented prefer the "self-transcending" capacity of the universe. The point is, stuff emerges. Amazing! (199, 203).

The next level of consciousness above causal unmanifest is the nondual, the final Omega point, pure nirvana, the final endpoint of all development and evolution, full Enlightenment. There is nothing outside of you that you can want, or desire, or seek, or grasp—your soul expands to the corners of the universe and embraces all with infinite delight. You are utterly Full, utterly Saturated such that the boundaries of the Kosmos completely explode and leave you awash in an ocean of infinite care. (207).  The Western philosophers William James and Bertrand Russel both recognize this nonduality, in A History of Western Phillosophy and Does Consciousness Exist?.  The duplicity ("twoness" and "lying"), the twoness of experience is the fundamental lie, the primordial untruthfulness , the beginning of ignorance and deception, the beginning of samsara. In nondual traditions, you take a very sacred vow that you will not disappear into cessation—you will not hide out in nirvana, you will not evaporate in Nirvana, you will not abandon the world in nirvikalpa.

These higher states are very rare, very difficult accomplishments. The deeper or higher states have never been anything near an average or collective mode of awareness. The evolution of the average mode is currently accelerating past the planetary federation with global or worldcentric morality, which is still unrealized for most. (223)

The goal of Unity is to accelerate the higher stages emerging in our future collective evolution.

Unfortunately, higher consciousness of transpersonal and spiritual levels is denied especially in the modern West. They are looked upon with grave suspicion and even outright hostility. The worldview of scientific materialism, which is the "official" worldview of the modern West, aggressively denies not only higher stages of consciousness development but the very existence of consciousness itself. This is flatland reductionism that reduces interiors to exterior correlates where there's no mind, no soul, no spirit, no value, no depth, and no divinity, only a great web of "its"—a truly insane worldview. (224). Science has not integrated art or morals, and so science colonizes and dominates. (226).  The West's denial of transpersonal dimensions dismiesses, rejects, or marginalizes the genuinely spiritual and transpersonal. Anything "higher" or "transcendental" is now the Devil, the great enemy, the destroyer of the earth-bound, sensory experience. Modernity is almost entirely within this grid of flatland.
*FN: Contact: Countdown to Transformation: The Rosetta Stone of contact with interstellar civilizations is non-local consciousness: awareness that is transpersonal, transcendental and that opens the individual awareness to the omnipresent Mind that is the ultimate Internet for interstellar communications.  The most important science of the next 1,000 years will be the science of consciousness. The Universal Consciousness or the Universal Mind, once experienced, can be used to see remote places and communicate with ETs because ET civilizations' communications technologies interface with consciousness and thought. ETs are not interested in humans who are still living in the illusion of separation. Seeing that we are all one being involves training one's perceptions to go beyond seeing only material objects. Perception is related to a person's training for evolving their level of consciousness.
ET civilizations are here, watching, waiting, hoping, for the maturation of the human race. But most people are not ready for such an ET experience yet. People are not aware of their subconscious fears, plus our culture is full of distortions and disinformation designed to sow fear in the public. Human evolution has been arrested due to power grabs of the vast and highly secretive corridors of the industrial and economic interests. For the past 60 years this  has thwarted the human potential to live peacefully with advanced energy technologies.  (ETs have helped us avoid self-destruction from atomic weapons.)

Bioregional Networking: Maybe change the western node of sustainability in the Northeast North America from Watertown, NY to Toronto, Canada. There's a great shift happening in Toronto.
  • The zones of habitability map based on predictions of drought is a "fear map" and the challenge is to avoid this outcome. The challenge is also to embrace love and compassion when children die and when NYC is whipped out by catastrophic super-storms and sea level rise. It's part of a greater purpose. The goal of spiritual climatology is not necessarily to prevent catastrophes from happening.  Groups must be careful in influencing global energy patterns, even if their intentions are for the greatest good.
  • Challenges, suffering, pain, loss, tragedy, victims of natural disasters, torture, disease, and so on. These can be powerful teachings and motivation to go on a different paths, to follow our dreams, to move toward our life's purpose. It's about growing and healing. Suffering is a result of separation from our essence, our spiritual alignment. Transform fear, anger, or anything that keeps you separated from unconditional love by focusing your life on finding the edge of growth. Awareness will bring fulfillment, meaning and purpose to living.
In Mental Technologies, I describe Immortality. I should add a footnote about how coming to terms with one's mortality and one's limits is part of finding one's own authentic being in the world. Otherwise we are inauthentic and engage in self-deception to hide ourselves from the shocking truth of existence, which involves existential dread, despair, angst, fear, and nausea. "If you claim there are any modes beyond existential angst, then you must be lapsing into death-denial and immortality projects." (176-77).  You transcend the identification with the existential and transpersonal worldview.

Chapter 4: Environmental Harmony

Environmental- and Climate- consciousness:
0. Unaware & Unprepared (over 80% of people.)
(24 tons of emissions per year US average).
1. “Preppers” for personal safety reasons (3m in US).
2. Environmentalists.[3]
Reduced energy footprint: 10-15 tons/yr emissions.
3. Localvores with High Adaptive Capacity
5-10 tons per year emissions footprint.
4. Spiritual Eco-Yogis & Weather Workers
0-5 tons/yr emissions. Connected with the energy web.
5. Weather Workers & Superconductors.
Connected with the energy web and ZPF, capable of channeling pranic energy. Negative emissions.

[1] Levels of food consciousness: 0. Pregan (1,000 biophotons); 1. Plant-Eater (1,000–43,000); 2.Vegan (43,000 – 83,000); 3. Raw-vegan (83,000– 114,000); 4. Spiritual Vegan (114,000+), and 5. Breathatarian, capable of channeling pranic nutrition from the Zero Point Field (ZPF).
[2] Models 1. physiological, safety, love, Self-actualization; 2. archaic, superstitious, egocentric, mythic, rational, pluralistic, integral, transpersonal; 3. + 4. matter, life, mind, soul, spirit; 5. waking, dreaming, sleeping, transcendental, cosmic, divine, unity; 6. Food, desire, emotions, higher mind 1, 2, and 3; 7. Ordinary, non-ordinary spirit-realms, energy web, ZPF/unity.
[3] Environmentalists are people concerned about environmental quality especially of the human environment with respect to the control of pollution. The inconvenient truth is that 75% of Americans consider themselves environmentalists. However, it's impossible to be an environmentalist while consuming animal products because animal products are the number one (or leading) cause of climate change, water pollution, deforestation,  and habitat loss.  Thus, there are less than 5% of environmentalists and the other 70% are hypocritical and deluding themselves until they live their values and live their truth. If proclaimed environmentalists would become authentic environmentalists, there would be Transformational social change.

Higher level environmental consciousness: Survivable IPCC projections are based on science fiction - the reality is much worse. (Breeze, Ecologist, Feb. 2015). It is quite clear that we have no carbon budget whatsoever. The account, far from being in surplus, is horrendously overdrawn. To claim we have a few decades of safely burning coal, oil and gas is an utter nonsense. The only survivable projections are based on large-scale Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) of hundreds of billions of tons of GHGs (10-35 billion tons per year, compared with 35 tons emissions) to prevent going beyond the extremely dangerous limit of 2°C rise in global mean temperatures.

Industrial CDR is fiction: it's high cost, slow, limited, and there is no proposed CDR technology that can achieve what the IPCC survivability scenario necessitates.

The only proposed CDR technology that exists is what I call the "yoga of climate change" or "spiritual geoengineering."

Spiritual Climatology
See Wishing for Good Weather: A Natural Experiment in Group Consciousness (Nelson, Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research, 1997), reporting how reunion and commencement activities at Princeton University, held outdoors, shows that there is significantly less rain, less often, in Princeton on those days, which involve a type of ritual with thousands of people informally hoping or wishing for good weather. The results are intriguing enough to reconsider the old saw, "Everyone talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it."

Geoengineering, supported by the military-banking-industrial complex, could be a greater catastrophe than climate change due to pollution.

Spiritual climatology, weather working, and spiritual geoengineering is an example of what's possible for the most evolved individuals, usually identified as the shaman, the yogi, the saint, and the sage. These levels of awareness involve the psychic, subtle, causal, and nondual levels of superconscious development.  (The highest stage beyond this is not a stage at all but the nondual Ground of the totality: spirit is both the highest level "causal" and the Ground of all levels "nondual.") (Wilber, 128).  These higher stages are postconventional or spiritual stages. These transcendental states include phenomena such as shamanic visions and voyages, arousal of kundalini energy and the disclosure of the whole psychic anatomy of subtle energies, and identification with aspects of nature—plant  identification, animal identification—up to an identification with all of nature in nature mysticism. A new worldspace comes into focus. (188).

The postconventional worldviews are nature mysticism, deity mysticism, formless mysticism, and nondual mysticism. The focus for environmental healing and harmony is nature mysticism.  At this level, a person temporarily dissolves the separate-self sense (the ego) and find an identity with the entire environment or gross or sensorimotor world. Suddenly there is no looker, just the forest—and you are the forest. You are not in here looking at the forest out there. There is just the forest, and it seems to see itself, or you seem to be seeing it from within. The forest is closer to you than your own skin. You don't look at the sky. You are the sky.  You are a "nature mystic," which some call Eco-Noetic Self or Over-Soul or World Soul. (Wilber, 184).

* FN Shamanism resources: (1) Weather Shamanism!, and (2) Roger Walsh, The World of Shamanism: New Views of an Ancient Tradition (2007) and The Spirit of Shamanism (1990), describing the levels of psychic/subtle, causal, and nondual worldviews and higher consciousness, analyzing variables on a sophisticated scale.
There's union with the natural world—what Buddhists call Nirmanakaya, a powerful force with the potential to affects living beings, as the body's embodiment of enlightenment, for physical transformation and purification, capable of extraordinary power to benefit others. (See, Three Kayas).

You realize that nature is a part of you, literally internal to your being. You are not a part of nature, nature is a part of you. And for just that reason, you treat nature as you would treat your lungs or your kidneys. A spontaneous environmental ethics surges forth from your heart and you will never again look at a river, a leaf, a deer, a robin in the same way.  (Wilber, 185)

The Deep Ecology and Ecofeminism's message for the modern world is to find that deep Self that embraces all of nature, and thus to treat nature with the same reverence you would extend to your own being. In the nature-mystic experience, you are not a strand in the web. You are the entire web. (Wilber, 186). (Maybe edit or FN p.597 in Unity, about being one strand.).

* We don't just need 8,000 or 144,000 average people meditating or thinking about global peace, harmony and healing. (And the exact number is not the point.) We need hundreds of thousands of Energy Healers and Nature Mystics (with Level 4 environmental consciousness) to raise global consciousness and heal the environment.   The goal of Unity is to raise people's consciousness, teach people how to dissolve their ego so they can achieve samadhi and engage in this meditation practice, become as Awakened as possible, and hopefully be able to channel divine/pranic energy to facilitate the global energy healing project. Less than 3% of people have achieve this but it's my assertion that the process can be accelerated and more people can be awakened to this transformational shift.

The child's magical worldview is animistic. This is not the sophisticated panpsychic philosophy a la Plato, Spinoza, William James, Vedas, Buddhism. Animism is very crude and very egocentric. Similarly, magic doesn't really work and one cannot magically order the world around. And the pantheon of gods and fairies and special forces do not miraculously suspend the laws of nature for often trivial reasons. If you want to change reality, you must work at it yourself: nobody is going to magically or mythically save you without a corresponding growth. However, animism, magic and myths do possess genuinely spiritual aspects. (Wilber 157).
* FN Global Sky Watch (about geoengineering with chem trails that contain toxic metals), and HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program, about Alaskan EMF transmitters involved with climate engineering).
* Trees and soil are the best, lowest cost climate change technologies. (Oxford Report)
The PracticeIt's not about the external chemical reactions that I've outlined. The purpose of explaining the science of photosynthesis and photolysisthe chemical reactions with light that dissociates methane and oceanic acids—is to help people know and visualize the fact that humans emit light that can help to purify pollution from the oceans and atmosphere and to help rejuvenate and grow the forests and phytoplankton. The practice is about visualizing and becoming this light. Know that it's possible. Experience it. Be the light. Be the love. The effect of the practice is a global coherence in consciousness, which is associated with the resonance matching and amplification of people's feelings and intentions. The scientific explanations are just an example of how the physical process could take place.

The practice is not about focusing on any specific chemical reaction or change: that would be the same hubris as industrial geoengineering.  The spiritual practice is to be guided by the mantra, "whatever is best." Also, it should be emphasized that the process is not about control and cannot be engaged in from or for ego.

Chapter 5: Crisis & Revolution
2014/2015 Human Rights Report: It's been a "devastating" year of historic failures. "Governments pay lip service to the importance of protecting civilians. And yet the world's politicians have miserably failed to protect those in greatest need."
Scientists report that humans have already crossed four “planetary boundaries.” They are the extinction rate; deforestation; the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere; and the flow of nitrogen and phosphorous (used on land as fertilizer) into the ocean. " Transgression of the Planetary Boundaries thus creates substantial risk of destabilizing the Holocene state of the earth system in which modern societies have evolved." Source: Planetary boundaries: Guiding human development on a changing planet (Science, Feb. 2015, reported in The Guardian).

Those who embrace inner transformation will dwell in a bubble of serenity, even though the world around them might collapse into rubble and ruin.

Declaration of War (p.551) & Peace (581)
Ghandi and MLK's nonviolence worked because of British and U.S. moral sensitivities. Nonviolence is not necessarily the best strategy when your opponent does not recognize your right to exist or uses peace negotiations simply as a strategy to gain more power. This is an extremely difficult situation. One needs to fight back when their right to existence is challenged. A strategy of violent resistance saves one's existence. Peacemakers must also work to evolve their opponent's consciousness and realizations about their right to exist. However, this is not the "kill to stop the killing" to justify sacrifice or war. (Source: Creating Peace by Being Peace.)

The Revolution may be a detoxification process for humanity. When an individual detoxes with a fast diseased, damaged, and old cells are eliminated, which dramatically improves health. Similarly, in the fall, worker bees in beehives kick out (indirectly killing) the male drones because the drones are useless would otherwise cause the hive to starve in the winter. The body and beehives are super-organisms of cells and bees. Likewise, humanity is a superorganism of people. A revolutionary detoxification may involve an elimination process of people causing humanity its sickness, fear, and undermining its evolution. Ideally, these people can be helped to achieve higher consciousness, and this is what the social peace meditation is all about.

So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.
Baha'i Faith.

If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself.
If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world,
then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself.
Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own transformation.
